Wendell Clair Jones July 2, 1922-August 15, 2012

Wendell Clair Jones, 90 formerly of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Lahabra, California.

The son of Gurney A. and Lola M. (Kimmel) Jones, he was born on July 2, 1922 in rural Livonia, Missouri. On May 7, 1945 in Troy, Kansas, he was married to Doris Lucille Followwill and to this union two children were born, Linda and Ronald.

Survivors include his children, Linda Ahmadi and husband, Ahmad of Lahabra, California and Ronald Jones of Bloomfield, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Yahnke and husband, Alan of Bloomfield, Iowa, Lindsey McFarland and husband, Jeremy of Bloomfield, Iowa, Brooke Humphrey and husband, Casey of Burlington, Iowa, Brahm Ahmadi and wife, Leah of Oakland, California, David Ahmadi and wife, Becky of Fort Bragg, California and Sara Ahmadi of Oakland, California; 9 great grandchildren; 1sister, Bonnie Hounsom of Unionville, Missouri; 1 brother, Bobby K. Jones and wife, Jean of Livonia, Missouri; nieces; nephews and other family members.

Wendell is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris on January 18, 2009; 1 sister, Reva Bourn; his daughter-in-law, Sheila Jones and grandson, Justin Lee Jones

Wendell served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After being honorably discharge, he began grain and livestock farming south of Bloomfield, Iowa and continued for over 60 years. _____________________

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Garry Shepherd officiating. Fran and Garry Shepherd who will be accompanied by organist, Maureen Watkins, will sing music selections of “Amazing Grace”, “Beulah Land” and “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder”. Pallbearers will be Brahm Ahmadi, David Ahmadi, Saeed Ahmadi, Alan Yahnke, Jeremy McFarland and Casey Humphrey. Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for St. John Cemetery in Livonia, Missouri. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in Livonia, Missouri. Military rites will be conducted by the Scotland County VFW Post #4958. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
