Juanita Alice Garr May 22, 1916 – July 8, 2012

Juanita Alice Garr, 96 of Coatsville, Missouri passed away at her home on Sunday, July 8, 2012.

The daughter of John Wesley and Elzona Leona (Forbes) McClaskey, she was born on May 22, 1916 in Chariton, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Emery William Ernest Garr on March 1, 1937 and to this union 6 children were born, William, Lawrence, John, Norman, Gearldine and Louise.

Survivors include her children, Norman Garr and wife Lori of Lancaster, Missouri, William Garr and wife, Shirley of Pleasantville, Iowa, Lawrence Garr and wife, Jennie of Pleasantville, Iowa and Gearldine Turnbull of Unionville, Missouri; 16 grandchildren, Billy Joe Garr, Garry Garr, Sherry Garr, Kim Garr, Terri Finnegan, Kerina Haberling, Randy Garr, Shirley Leo, David Leo, Phillip Garr, Shane Garr, Mat Garr, Amy Garr, Brandi Rogers, Lezlea Rogers and Emily Buckallew; 28 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; other family members and many good friends including William McCaan and Charlie Horn who checked on Juanita daily.

Preceding Juanita in death are her parents; her husband, Emery William Ernest Garr on September 17, 1982; 1 daughter, Louise Avery; 1 son, John Garr; 1 brother, Hugh McClaskey; 3 sisters, Eva Binns, Mildred Oden and Minnie Herman.

Juanita was employed as a nurse’s aide by the Putnam County Nursing Home in Unionville, Missouri for a number of years.

Juanita was a very giving person who opened her home to her family and friends at all times. Her hobbies included quilting and needlework, which she enjoyed. She will certainly be missed by neighbors and all!

____ Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri assisted by Walter Burnett, Pastor of the Community Christian Church of Downing, Missouri. Music will be special CD selections of “Gathering Flowers for The Masters Bouquet”, “Me and God” and “Lead Me Home”. Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Garr, Gary Garr, David Leo, Phillip Garr, Randy Garr, Shane Garr and Mat Garr. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the St. John’s Cemetery. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery in Livonia, Missouri.
